MCU Phase 4: 10 Reasons Secret Wars Is A Genius Idea For Next Avengers Movie

Initially starting out conception as a way to convince Mattel to license their merchandise, it's fair to say that Secret Wars is founded on the idea of innovation.

Mattel wanted more buildings and weapons to sell in sets - so more were crated and added into the comic. Doctor Doom's design had to change. All in all, a lot of difficult implementations were managed - and managed with skill.

While it's easy to say that this just shows Marvel 'going corporate', this whole thing does also show the opposite. The willingness to adapt and tailor highlights just how creative the staff responsible for the comic were, and how committed they were to making a comic that both suited its benefactors, and was a good comic in its own right.

Marvel films are bound to have similar requirements in terms of producing marketable goods. So taking a leaf out of their source material's tactics seems a logical way to get the best of both worlds.
