MCU Phase 4: 10 Signs It Could Be A Crushing Disappointment

7. Thor: Love & Thunder Could Be Watered Down

Spider Man Homecoming
Marvel Comics

Thor: Love and Thunder is still a long way off, but we already know quite a bit about Taika Waititi's return to the MCU following last year's San Diego Comic-Con. The plan is to bring back Jane Foster as The Mighty Thor, while Valkyrie will be searching for her Queen after being appointed the new King of Asgard at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Unfortunately, it's become clear since then that this threequel might not live up to the comic book run it's loosely based on. Waititi has already admitted that he's unsure about delving into Jane's battle with breast cancer, while he's also backed down when it comes to whether Valkyrie is going to be "explicitly queer" in his movie.

It's beginning to feel like Disney's influence is changing what Love and Thunder was meant to be - this is the same studio that put a gay kiss in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but made sure it was easy to cut - and we wouldn't be at all surprised if Waititi ends up walking away.

Either way, it's hard not to be concerned about this one right now.
