MCU Phase 4: 10 Things You Need To Know About Namor
2. He Fought In World War II
This is one of the lesser known facts about Namor, but from a storytelling view one of the most interesting. Namor made his debut in 1939 just as the Second World War was breaking out, but he has canonically fought in the war in several of his arcs.
Were it not for tricky licensing issues, this would allow them to either span several eras like the Wolverine: Origins movie; seeing Logan fight in various conflicts was one of the few strong point of that film.
It would also allow them to twist the period piece feel of Captain Marvel all the way back to the 1940s, just like they did with Captain America: The First Avenger. Any chance to get Stanley Tucci and Tommy Lee Jones back in the MCU is always welcome too.
In the comics, he fought alongside Captain America, hence why he’s so eager to defend him in Capsicle form when the Avengers come looking.
With Evans leaving though, this might be changed on screen to Bucky. This means that while Namor will likely be an unpopular arrival amongst the characters, he’ll at least have one person in his corner.
