MCU Phase 4: 10 Villains Marvel Could Use In Doctor Strange 2

These villains are truly strange and deranged...

With the MCU already beginning to bid some of their most longstanding heroes farewell in favour of bringing in some new additions, things are looking up for the likes of Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and of course everyone's favourite Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange.

Strange's big screen debut back in 2016 was met with praise for its mind-bending cinematography, its layered and nuanced worldbuilding and for some of the best performances seen in the MCU to date. However, if there was one aspect of the film that didn't sit well with fans, it was the film's villains.

While Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen (what a waste of a perfect Doctor Doom casting) did the best they could with the material they had, nothing could hide the fact that Baron Mordo and Kaecilius are just a pair of outright boring villains.

With reports circulating that long-standing Doctor Strange ally Clea, the daughter of Umar (one of Strange's greatest comic enemies), will be appearing in Doctor Strange 2, fans continue to wonder exactly who The Master Of The Mystic Arts will be taking on in his awaited sequel...

10. The Nameless One

If there's one thing that the MCU has done an incredible job with thus far, it's making preposterously designed monsters feel like living, breathing and genuine threats to their heroes.

The Abomination was a feral tank of a beast, Surtur was a titanic harbinger of death whose scale was captured perfectly and Thanos has gone down as one of the greatest supervillains ever put to film, whilst also being a crowning achievement in visual effects. So why not add another masterfully crafted monster to this prestigious lineup?

A long-standing Doctor Strange villain, The Nameless One is the leader of an ancient race of similarly gargoyle-looking beings, the Undying Ones, who ruled the Earth in ancient times. Returning to Earth in an attempt to reinstate their position as the rulers of Earth, The Nameless One swiftly found himself defeated by Doctor Strange and Namor.

For all the magic and fantasy to be found in the Doctor Strange universe, very rarely do we get to see The Sorcerer Supreme battle more direct, physical threats. He can use magic to battle sorcerers, banish hellspawn and even outsmart the Devil himself, but the MCUs Doctor Strange has yet to take on a physical threat quite like the Nameless One.
