MCU Phase 4: 10 Villains Marvel Could Use In Doctor Strange 2
4. Mephisto
If all-powerful, larger-than-life villains such as Ego The Living Planet, Surtur, Dormammu and Thanos can find a way to fit naturally into the generally very grounded MCU (just ignore the talking Raccoon), then maybe Mephisto can find his place as an antagonist to fellow sorcerer Doctor Strange without too much hassle?
After all, he's only the godlike and immortal Marvel Universe stand-in for Satan.
A character who has always worked best when operating behind-the-scenes, Mephisto is rarely used as a physical threat to the various heroes who find themselves opposed to him. Rather, he is a devilish manipulator (if you'll pardon the pun) who knows just which strings to pull and bargains to strike to make even the most powerful superheroes succumb to his will.
Unique in his history as an antagonist to no-one hero, Mephisto has been a villain to just about every Marvel hero you can think of. This, coupled with his distinct knack for using his magic as a tool for manipulation and the breaking of spirits, could make Mephisto one of the most interesting and unique villains to have been seen thus far in the MCU.
