The Rumour:

The status of Blade in the MCU has been discussed by Marvel fans pretty much since Phase One, with many hoping a live action TV series or film reboot could enter production on account of those earlier films being so successful. Marvel had had the rights to a film for a long time too, so the fact nothing concrete has emerged regarding a Daywalker reboot is slightly frustrating.

Each year there's a new Blade rumour, and 2018 was no different. Snipes recounted his discussions with Marvel over a possible reboot at various occasions over the year, and Aquaman director James Wan even recounted how he once pitched a reboot of the franchise a few years back; even The Punisher's Steven Lightfoot has made public his wish to work on a Blade TV show in the future!

The Response:

Sooner or later, a Blade movie has to happen. Snipes himself has said he's been in talks with Marvel for two years regarding the franchise's future, and with Disney apparently keen to experiment with R-Rated superhero fare with Deadpool, the main question everyone should be asking isn't whether or not a Blade reboot is going to happen, but who will play the character on the big screen when it does.
