Pretty much nobody in their right mind would have said that Hawkeye was going to make it to Phase 3 let alone Phase 4 and his own title project on Disney+ when he was first introduced into the MCU. He was very much presented - unfairly - as a second class Avenger and it took until the very end of Civil War and then his transformation in Endgame to make him as interesting as he'd always deserved.

Hopefully, the Hawkeye series - which will see him teaming up with (and presumably mentoring) Kate Bishop - will be presented as the first real step to legacy shows and films with Hawkeye perhaps presented as the stepping stone to forming the Young Avengers?

Whether you've liked him previously or not, the source material this show will be based on and Jeremy Renner's horribly underrated performance as Clint make this a potential sleeper hit.
