Nathan Fillion may have been set for a cameo as the man in question for Guardians 2, but by the time the film released the actor was nowhere to be seen. Though this may be the case, Guardians director James Gunn has said the character will be used for future instalments in the franchise, though not in the way fans had quite envisioned.
In the comics, Wonder Man (real name Simon Williams) was first introduced as an Avengers villain before taking on a heroic role in the years following. He was one of the team's most powerful members for a time, but while he featured during their most prolific years, the character soon fell out of favour and was relegated to a recurring role on Hawkeye's West Coast counterpart.
This makes his inclusion in the Guardians franchise somewhat perplexing, but with the character an Earthbound for the foreseeable future, don't be surprised to see him take on a serious role in the future - especially if Fillion reprises the part.
