MCU Phase 4: Which Characters Will Return After Avengers: Endgame?

16. Falcon

Falcon Infinity War
Marvel

Status: Alive

Sam Wilson got a couple of brief but brilliant moments in the battle against Thanos' army, but crucially he made it out alive and his legacy will now be the same as Steve Rogers. The world still needs heroes and America still needs its Captain, and Sam is now the appointed replacement for Steve now that he is permanently retired.

The next steps in his story will presumably be about him trying to fill his friend's shoes and growing into the different role. Because Falcon is nothing like Cap and there are different requirements for both.

Next Up: The Winter Soldier & Falcon TV Show

But wait, could this actually just be Captain America the TV show? He's now got the shield and while it's a difficult prospect to replace a character brand as strong as Chris Evans as Cap, there's enough in both characters to suggest that story is going to be a good watch.

And what of Phase Three's new characters...?

The Third Influx

15. Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel Brie Larson
Marvel Studios

Status: Alive

The most over-powered character in the entire MCU was a surprise immediate starter in Endgame, considering it looked like her post-credits scene was actually from the movie. And then even more surprisingly, she basically just left to help the rest of the universe pick the pieces up before coming back with a vengeance for the epic ending.

And of course she didn't die, she's an Infinity Stone-powered near-God who just made a billion at the box office. She's not only covered in plot-armour, she's also covered in box office-armour.

Next Up: Captain Marvel 2

Her sequel might not have been set in stone yet, but it's coming thanks to the box office and it's likely to be set out in space once more, probably picking up the story of the scattered Skrulls and the Kree attempts to kill them off.

There's a possibility of an All-Female Avengers movie, but that might not beat Captain Marvel 2 into cinemas even if there is.
