Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Widow and Hawkeye went through a lot together. Natasha Romanoff's Widow was once a superspy for the KGB, eventually defecting to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. - all thanks to Clint Barton.

Throughout the wider MCU franchise, this pair always had each other's backs. For example, Natasha helped to bring Clint back after Loki took control of his mind, and when Romanoff struggled with her past, it was Barton who was there to help.

It seemed only right that, in the search for the Soul Stone, it would be Black Widow and Hawkeye who would go to retrieve it. With one needing to sacrifice themselves in order to find that stone, Natasha won the battle between the pair, getting to wipe clean her own slate while also allowing Clint the chance to get his family back.
