MCU Rumour: Marvel Have Secretly Cancelled X-Men Dark Phoenix & New Mutants

Is the current X-Men movie universe done?

If you're a fan of the current X-Men movie timeline and were looking forward to the two currently completed X-Men movies (and Fox's plans for several more before they hand over to Disney) you might be in for some disappointment. Because according to a whole set of rumours on the Marvel/Fox world, there could be a huge shake-upcoming that will CANCEL some movies and move other plans around dramatically.

The rumours come courtesy of an alleged former low-level Fox employee called SlugZilla (who was apparently a low-level Fox employee involved in The New Mutants from before Josh Boone was brought on board. They are, of course, to be taken with a healthy side of salt, but they make for interesting reading all the same.

The most interesting "revelations" in there are that both Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants won't be released, that Simon Kinberg is wrong about Gambit being on track, that there WON'T be an X-23 movie and that Disney are already involved in the direction of Fox/Marvel movies.

Here are the updates according to the rumours for each of the Fox-related projects...

5. Gambit - CANCELLED

Despite what Simon Kinberg has been saying recently, the "leaker" says that Gambit actually won't be happening. This wouldn't be completely illogical, really, because the project has been in and out of production for years now with multiple directors attached at various stages.

If it WAS to be cancelled, it would probably be the least surprising revelation of this entire thing.
