MCU Secret Invasion: Which Heroes Could Be Skrulls?

8. Falcon

Though he's been a good supporting figure in the last two Captain America movies, Sam Wilson hasn't really done a great deal in the MCU in his own right. Sure, he's an Avenger, but the whole point of Civil War was establishing that he - and his fellow new breed - weren't actually very good at it, and he's in danger of simply sticking around as a wise-cracking side-line buddy until he's killed off to fairly limited impact.

But as a Skrull, Falcon takes on a whole new dynamic and would actually improve the Cap/Bucky storyline even further. Just imagine how betrayed Cap would feel to discover that a second of his friends was duplicitous... There'd certainly be an emotional authenticity behind that twist.

Not only would it give Sam something more to do, it could also be used to retrospectively explain his backstory a little better. As it is, he just sort of dropped out of the air in The Winter Soldier, and having that explained more as a strategic ploy and not a happy coincidence would definitely serve his story better.
