Mel Gibson: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Jack Skinner - The Million Dollar Hotel (2000)

On paper, The Million Dollar Hotel sounds like an intriguing movie; directed by Wim Wenders, based on a story by Bono, a soundtrack by U2 and a story centered around an FBI agent investigating the death of one of the residents of a hotel populated by strange residents. Instead, it delivers a self-indulgent and odd little indie that makes very little sense. Waiving his usual salary demands to star in the $8m flick, Gibson also acted as producer through his Icon Productions company, something he surely regretted after referring to the movie as being 'as boring as a dog's ass' during an interview. Aiming for a complex and ambiguous performance as FBI agent Jack Skinner, Gibson misses the mark entirely and seems uncomfortable more than anything else, resulting in a strange turn that is the most misjudged of his entire career.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
