Men In Black International Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

5. The Painfully Unfunny, Charmless Script

Watching this movie is reminiscent of 2016's Ghostbusters reboot, in that it feels like they started shooting with only the barest bones of a script, and simply hoped that the cast would fill the holes with improv.

Men in Black: International is certainly jam-packed with one-liners, but the overwhelming majority of them either don't work at all or raise a faint, sensible chuckle at the very most.

Wit is in woefully short supply in the film's script, with most of the "snappy" zingers lacking the charm or smarts to sound like anything more than generic placeholder dialogue.

It's a script so devoid of even the most basic creative spark that the cast, despite trying to make it work, mostly look half-asleep - and who can blame them?
