2. Nigel Bigelow - Bewitched (2005)
Panned by critics and scorned by fans of the original TV series, the film adaptation of Bewitched did little to set audiences alight with its screen time. While most of the criticism aimed at the film involved the almost total lack of chemistry between the film's two main characters Isabel and Jack (played by Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrel respectively), Caine's performance as Isabel's father, Nigel Bigelow, wasn't particularly enthralling either. Caine may be the warlock father of a witch in the film, but there's almost zero magic on-screen, and Caine as an intrusive father just isn't a role that fits him particularly well. Being typecast as an actor is rarely something you should look forward to in Hollywood, but if Bewitched is anything to go by, Caine would have been far better suited to sticking to what he knows best; playing a morally complex gangster or a charming, charismatic bachelor.
