Michael Fassbender: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

Director Steven Soderburgh went on a hot streak of experimenting with different genres leading up to his €œretirement€ from movies. This included action vehicle Haywire which was the debut of MMA star Gina Carano. She'€™s definitely got the physical ability of an action star but Soderburgh should have given her a screen test first, as her wooden performance plagues the movie.

The rumour persists that her entire performance was dubbed by another actress in an effort to salvage it. Maybe she was intimidated by the cast Soderburgh placed around her, including Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton and Michael Douglas. Fassbender plays MI6 agent Paul who accompanies Carano on a mission. Paul is a forgettable role and Fassbender fails to bring anything special to it.

He smirks a bit, says some exposition, has an admittedly cool fight scene with Carano and then dies. There€™s no spark to his performance apart from a cringey flashback where Paul is revealed to be a drunken misogynist, an overacted scene that should have been cut.
