Michael J Fox: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

5 Awesome Performances...

5. Mike Flaherty - Spin City (1996-2001)

Having made his name in the politically flavoured Family Ties, and stolen The American President as a political aide in 1995, Fox made it a hat-trick of great political successes on the small screen. As bullsh*t-maestro Mike Flaherty, his charisma and easy wit propped up the slighter comic sensibilities and gave human appeal to the cynical politics of the show. He was the anchor at the centre of a surprisingly edgy sitcom that would wade the same sort of waters as The West Wing and The Thick Of It despite being glossier and simpler. The entire cast was a perfect soup, impeccably balanced and all supremely likeable, despite the obvious aspirations to be a diet version of Aaron Sorkin, and it wouldn€™t have worked without the star. Which is precisely why it tanked as soon as his health made continuing impossible.
