Minions: 12 Easter Eggs You May Have Missed

11. Nixon: Finally A Name You Can Trust

When the trio of Minions first enter New York, they pass a campaign poster for Presidential candidate Richard Nixon, which proudly exclaims "Finally A Name You Can Trust". A "one for the parents" joke, this is quite obviously a jab at all his wheeling and dealing behind the scenes (in fact, it's a surprise the Minions didn't work for him). However, unlike some of the other period jokes the film makes (the US government is faking the Moon landings a year ahead of time and Stuart imitates Van Halen a decade early) this one's got a ring of truth to it. In 1968, Lyndon B. Johnson had just gone back on his plan to not re-run and various lies about the instigation of the Vietnam War had been unearthed, so Trickie Dickie looked like a somewhat legitimate option.
