Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One Review - 7 Ups & 3 Downs
2. Lorne Balfe's AWESOME Musical Score
Just as the Mission: Impossible franchise has worked through a diverse roster of filmmakers, so too has it employed the services of an illustrious line-up of composers, ranging from Danny Elfman to Hans Zimmer, Michael Giacchino, and most recently the great Lorne Balfe.
After previously scoring Fallout, Balfe is back to score both Dead Reckoning movies, and his work for Part One represents some of the series' finest to date.
Balfe once again masterfully expands from Lalo Schifrin's iconic original theme into a brilliantly bombastic orchestral score that significantly amplifies the dizzying action sequences, while also lending emotion in the movie's more contemplative moments.
With Balfe ultimately using 555 musicians to record a stonking 14 hours of music during the recording process, it certainly represents one of the most epic and ambitious scores of any recent Hollywood production.
