14. The White Widow Is Max's Daughter!?

Perhaps the most unexpected moment in the entire movie is the nonchalant reveal that the White Widow is in fact the daughter of Max, the arms dealer from the very first movie, who was played by acting legend Vanessa Redgrave.

It's an Easter egg of sorts that's easily missed if you're not paying attention to the White Widow's dialogue when Ethan first meets her, but considering how much of a likeness Kirby has to her screen mother, it's actually pretty surprising this wasn't followed up on in any way.

Hell, the White Widow even later tells Ethan, "Family, what can you do?", again teasing a further exploration of this reveal, but it never comes.

As weird and arguably unnecessary as this familial link is, it's still a neat way to tie the movie back to the original, and further cements how this feels like the one true sequel in the entire series to date.
