Many assumed that Paramount were insanely confident in Rogue Nation by moving its release date up from December to July (though it was more likely a move to avoid competing with Star Wars), but even so, when prior reports emerged in February that production had halted and director Christopher McQuarrie was "scrambling" to fix the film's problematic third act, it was hard not to expect the final product to sputter at the finish line. As such it's not terribly surprising that a number of critics singled out the finale as "underwhelming" compared to the crazy earlier set-pieces, and one critic even noted that it "feels hastily cobbled together", even though reviewers mostly admitted that it didn't overly harm the film: it just didn't end it on a high note like every film wants to. How excited are you for the Rogue Nation? Have you seen it yet? Shout it out in the comments!
