Morbius Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

1. Jon Ekstrand's Musical Score

Among the few other key personnel to get out with their dignity in tact is composer Jon Ekstrand, whose pulsing, energetic musical score is one of the film's few easy highlights.

Ekstrand embraces the vampire genre's tendency towards big sweeping operatic scores for much of the film, though also often melds it with vibing synths to give a more contemporary feel.

It's not going to end up ranked among the greatest or most iconic superhero movie scores of all time, but in a film so often defined by laziness and incompetence, Ekstrand acquits himself well with a score that suggests he actually gives a damn. It's something, right?
