Morbius Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

2. Matt Smith's Ridiculous Villain Steals The Show

But the easy highlight of Morbius is Matt Smith, who is on an entirely different wavelength to anyone else here and clearly seemed to appreciate he wasn't starring in a good movie.

As Michael's surrogate brother and eventual antagonist Milo, Smith gives a big, silly performance once his character truly joins the fray in the film's second half.

Getting not one but two scenes to dance for our enjoyment (seriously), Smith is clearly having fun with the schlocky material, and he spits out the absurd dialogue with a certain campy relish.

Seeing him in his vampiric form while kitted out in a pristine suit is one of the most hilarious sights of the year, and Smith makes it totally clear he's in on the joke. It's just a shame the rest of the film isn't.
