Morbius Trailer Review: 5 Ups & 1 Down

Downs...

1. It Might Not Appeal To A Mainstream Audience

There was always going to be a risk that Morbius would never appeal to a mainstream audience in the way that Venom did simply because he isn't as well-known of a character. Throw in the fact that Venom broke out of its own box with $800 million at the box office (in spite of negative reviews) and Morbius really does have a mountain to climb.

The fact that Sony have gone with a traditionally Gothic vampire-level trailer here certainly feels thematically right, as it benefits the presentation of the film (we'll get to that shortly), but it might make it even less likely to appeal to non-comic book fans (or, heck, even comic book fans). The eerie tone might inspire intrigue among horror fans, but will it appeal to the core Marvel Comics audience? If not, could the Michael Keaton cameo turn the tide?

Guess we'll wait and see...

Now, for the positives...
