Morbius Trailer Review: 5 Ups & 1 Down

2. Redemption For Jared Leto

Let's be clear: Jared Leto is one heck of an actor. He's turned in some awe-inspiring performances throughout his career, including his Oscar, Golden Globe and SAG award-winning offering in Dallas Buyer's Club. And, given his knack for method acting, fans had wanted to see him take on a comic book film role for quite some time.

Unfortunately, that time came in Suicide Squad and, whether it was the film's bizarre reinvention of the iconic character or just Leto's performance, it failed to come to life in the way we hoped it would.

Morbius, however, is Leto's shot at redemption. More than that, it's a chance for him to show off what he's really capable and make the role his own. Like we already noted, Suicide Squad's version of The Joker limited what he could do with the role, but even if it hadn't, it was going to receive unfair comparisons to the superior predecessors. But that isn't the case here.

Leto's Morbius will be the first of its kind (other than the shadowy figure in the alternate ending of Blade), and that allows him more freedom. However, the comic-accurate look also allows him to avoid the initial negative outcry that his Joker received.

Make no mistake about it, this is Leto's time to shine.
