Which Movie Genuinely Deserves A Prequel?

And what would it be about?

Question Of The Day: Which Movie Genuinely Deserves A Prequel (And What Would It Be About?) When you think about it, prequels are a fairly asinine way of continuing movie franchises, given that we already know what's going to happen after the events depicted have taken place, given that - duh - we've already them happening. As a result, only so much drama can be squeezed out of a prequel narrative, as witnessed by the likes of George Lucas's ill-fated Star Wars Episodes I-III, which proved that sometimes less really is more. In that case, telling us what we already knew didn't enhance the Star Wars experience - it merely made it less interesting and more derivative. That said, there has to be one movie out there deserving of a prequel - one that actually makes sense from a story perspective and is genuinely worth telling. For our money, we'd go with Escape From New York, given what we know about Snake Plissken's badass origins from tiny bits of information revealed throughout John Carpenter's iconic '70s movie. What makes this an intriguing idea is that Plissken is a former U.S. Army Lieutenant, everybody he meets thinks he's dead (what happened?!), and we've heard rumours about adventures in both Kansas City and Cleveland. There's so much here to explore, given what's been established, and Snake is the sort of character who can afford to turn up in a random prequel - his legacy is solid, but he's not Indiana Jones, exactly.
