I have tons of respect for
Rowan Atkinson. I think his work in
Blackadder is just incredible and it truly is one of my favourite comedies of all time. And though, I do admit to liking
Mr. Bean in my childhood somewhat and thinking the first motion picture wasn't too bad, it's a shame that this character will be what he will always be remembered by. His talent is so much better than Mr. Bean. Anyway, next year's movie
Mr. Bean's Holiday will mark the first time in ten years that Rowan Atkinson has played the character (unless you count lending his voice to the animated tv show) and will likely be a tough sell for audiences in 2007. The character's popularity is certainly not what it was back then. The plot is being kept pretty much underwraps at the moment but it will go something like this.... Mr. Bean goes on holiday to the south of France, where a series of his personal diary vignettes have somehow found it's way to be shown in the Cannes Film Festival. Presumably the usual Bean fumbling antics ensues during his vacation. Mr. Bean's Holiday is released in the U.K. in March 2007, with the movie hitting the States next September. source -
