My Evolution As A Filmmaker In 10 Films

6. La Famiglia

Summary: The FBI are closing in on The Salettis, the last family of the Sicilian mafia, and during their last night they uncover a snitch and fight for dominance as the Don dies. But the Don€™s heir wants his son to be free of €˜The Family€™ before it€™s too late.Best Bit: The end scene between Marco and his father. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYz2ha3j-xc What I Learned: OK, so sue me! I went big in my follow-up to One Way. This was the most stressful production so far- I had gone too far and there was no way out. The cast was too big, there was music to be synced, more lighting cues, props and special effects than the other 6 houses put together. I was in too deep to let it all fall apart. Whilst it was not my most personal work, it was my most successful and most loved. I went epic and was near driven to madness, but it was worth it. Following up what I had learned about the importance of cinematography, I tried hard to . Ultimately, it failed, but one has to experiment. This my introduction to Total Theatre, engaging a standing-room audience (Christ only knows why so many people turned up, but I€™m glad they did). It was also something of an introduction for marketing, too- I organised a photoshoot and stuck up posters everywhere, drumming up some real interest. Up until the eleventh hour, I thought it was going to fail spectacularly, but once again my cast didn€™t let me down, with four of us getting nominated for best actor.
