Mystery Science Theater 3000: 10 Worst Movies They Riffed

7. Space Mutiny (1988)

space_mutiny01Summary: What happens if you try to pass off a brick-walled industrial building as the inside of a spaceship, and mix that with shots lifted from Battlestar Galactica? Why, you get Space Mutiny, possibly the worst thing to ever come out of South Africa! However, the amazing thing about this is that - as far as I can tell - it has actually has a plot. It follows a pilot named Dave Ryder as he attempts to stop factions on the spaceship from leading a mutiny and (I think) enslaving the rest of the crew. Why It Stinks: Worst. Editing. Ever. One character is clearly and obviously killed partway through the movie, and then reappears in the next scene. And then of course is the infamously bad sets... most of the ship was filmed inside the aforementioned brick-walled industrial building (seen above) and the bridge looks like... well, an office. Mid-80's computers and all. They even use floppy disks! Sample: Best Riff: Not one specific one. Rather, the video above that features them making up nicknames for Dave Ryder.
