4. Ann Patterson - Dream House
Watts was just utterly forgettable here. I know that's a harsh assessment, but let's look at it. The film Dream House is mainly concerned with Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz' couple-with-daughters, and it was very hard to get past the smouldering chemistry between the couple, especially in a film as bad as this with bonkers twists. Frankly, it's that relationship which saves the damn thing, and makes everyone else suffer by comparison, especially when they're being woefully under-utilised. For what it's worth, Watts' role seems to be that of a plot device, the nice neighbour from across the street who knows stuff, and then takes Craig over to the dream house in question. It's an underdeveloped role for an actress of Watts' calibre, and she's something of an elephant in the room. Seriously, all she really does is point stuff out and ask a few questions. I know that's probably reductionist, but she's just acting out the worst kind of cliche, making her an equally culpable party in this ramshackle mess.
