Neil Jordan will adapt and helm the thriller
Heart-Shaped Box, based on a book scribed by
Stephen King's son
Joe Hill.
Akiva Goldsman will produce the flick for Warner Brothers.
Hill's spooky storyline revolves around an aging rock star with a penchant for the macabre. He can't refuse an offer to buy a suit on eBay that's said to contain a ghost. After the suit arrives, he begins to realize that while he wants the ghost gone, the ghost wants him dead.
The premise doesn't sound all that great does it? One of the big problems with psychological thrillers, is trying to keep the tension and the audience interested for the full length of the feature. The pitfall that many movies of the genre fall into is forgetting about it's structure and what the film's main theme is about.... I fear this plot may end up becoming like that. What I mean is... Instead of being a movie about a ghost haunting someone, it will turn into a crappy "by the book" mystery of why this ghost is stalking him. The reason WHY should never be explained, it's far more scarier that way. source -
