8 New Actors Who Can Save Marvel Phase 3

8. Josh Brolin

For 12 movies Marvel has hinted at, referenced, and teased Thanos, the universes mighty villain. But for the most part he has not taken up much screen time. Well, finally that might change in Phase 3. As things come to a climax Thanos should have a much bigger role. And that means that it is Josh Brolin's turn to step into the spotlight. Recently Brolin has had a run of bad action movies (Jonah Hex anyone?) and failed Oscar contenders (Inherent Vice, Gangster Squad. However he has shown in the past that he is capable of great performances. His showings in films like True Grit and No Country For Old Men were very strong and proved that Brolin can bring it when he has a good script to work with and a director capable of making a quality film. However, Marvel doesn't make films like No Country For Old Men, they make movies more like Men In Black III (another forgettable film on Brolin's resume). So if his track record is any indication this might not work out. But this role is different from the usual action parts Brolin has worked in the past. Due to the CGI used on his character and Thanos's tendency to remain removed from any action, this is a role that will lean on voice acting and authority, which is a perfect fit. Brolin's smoky deep voice is perfect for Marvel's big baddie, and he speaks and moves with an forcefulness that will serve him well whenever Thanos finally shows up for more than 30 seconds on screen.
