8. Calendar Man
Calendar Man has surprisingly been going against Batman since the late 50s. Julian Day originally hopped on the scene committing crimes based on the day of the week, holiday, or season. It was about as hokey as it sounds. However, Tim Sale and Jeph Loeb eventually transformed this joke villain into something more Hannibal Lecter in their fantastic mini-series, Batman: The Long Halloween. Why we shouldn't expect them: Like The Mad Hatter, Calendar Man has garnered much more appreciation in recent years, but he falls into the same trap; viewers with no previous knowledge of Julian Day or The Long Halloween will deem him a rip-off of Anthony Hopkins' Oscar-winning character.
