5. The Mitchells vs. The Machines 2
Even accepting that The Mitchells vs. the Machines was an Oscar-nominated critical darling and one of Netflix's most-watched animated films at the time of its release, it also suffered from releasing in the middle of the pandemic where it quickly came and went amid a sea of other also-delayed films.
Furthermore, it was originally intended for a theatrical release before Sony sold the distribution rights to Netflix, which many assumed would complicate a potential sequel.
But last October, The Mitchells vs. the Machines 2 was finally confirmed, with Sony and Netflix once again partnering on the film, which will be co-directed by Guillermo Martinez and JP Sans and written by the Molyneux sisters (The People We Hate at the Wedding).
No word yet on the story or a potential release date, but considering how much of an irreverent delight the original was, it sure has a whole lot to live up to.
