4. Lucas - Three Fugitives
Nolte ended the eighties with a near career-defining dud in this noisy buddy caper. In a slight role reversal, Nolte plays a recently released criminal intent on going straight, who by a twist of fate is taken hostage by a bumbling yet well-meaning crook - Martin Short, in overdrive - and finds himself having to fight to prove his innocence. Showcasing none of the straight man skills we all loved from 48 Hrs., Nolte spends the majority of this movie looking bemused and unable to get a word in edgeways around a rampant Short. One for the diehard fans only.
