8. Safin’s Plan Explained

Safin is a real throwback of a Bond villain. He’s super-intelligent, disfigured and thinks he’s got the right idea, but unfortunately, Rami Malek isn’t really given much to work with as his character is almost relegated to a subplot - as this is more of a personal story for Double O seven.

After his family was wiped out by the late Mr White at a young age, Safin’s goal from there was to take revenge on Spectre and White himself. Though he never gets his hands on White, Safin kills his wife and almost Madeleine, but instead chooses to save her life instead - so that they would be tied to one and another forever.

After Safin achieves his vengeance on Spectre and finally Blofeld via Bond, Safin simply turns to power over the world as his next goal. With Obruchev doing the dirty work for him instead of M over at MI6, he aims to unlead the nanobots out into the world effectively culling the population, but unfortunately for him, Double O seven puts a stop to that.
