Ocean's 8 Review: 5 Ups And 4 Downs

4. The Strong Pace

Another positive holdover from the original series is the fast, efficient pacing. Ocean's 8 never takes too much to slow things down, allowing there to never really be any lulls in the story. Never underestimate the importance of pace in a heist movie, and Ocean's 8 understands this.

Whether it's a scene in which Debbie and Cate Blanchett's Lou are recruiting members for the job or it's the illegal side tasks prior to the heist, the film always keeps things moving. You're rarely ever stuck in any one area or scene for long, leading to a prompt movement to another location with a different group of personalities engaging with one another. This allows Ocean's 8 to remove any lingering moments, providing audiences with a runtime that has little real filler material.

It does it sometimes for the price of reducing character moments, but it is an overall positive choice that strengthens the movie. Besides, an Ocean's movie with slow pacing is like a Michael Bay movie without explosions.
