Okja Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

1. It's A Daring, Ground-Breaking Acquisition For Netflix

Okja premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in mid-May, and it shows just how far Netflix has come that they've been able to acquire such a prestigious, long-awaited project for a day-and-date release on their platform.

Though Netflix has been picking up artistic, star-studded fare for quite some time, perhaps most prominently Idris Elba's terrific Beasts of No Nation, Okja is certainly their most high-profile win so far, and is surely paving the way for the streaming giant to cut out the middle man, that is cinema chains, as much as possible in the future.

Though theatrical distributors naturally view Netflix as the enemy, for those who want to watch movies at home at a lower cost without any annoying patrons, the ability to pause and rewind at the press of a button, with their own snacks and drinks no less, it's nothing short of a revolution. And the best part? This is just the beginning.
