Once Upon A Deadpool Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs

2. The "Savage" Disney/Fox Jokes

Another easy highlight of Once Upon A Deadpool is the number of references to the Disney-Fox merger, which was effectively completed a few months after Deadpool 2 hit cinemas.

Fred Savage makes some, ahem, savage ribs about what the merger means for Deadpool, while drawing a line between Fox's Marvel movies and the "real" Marvel movies created by Marvel Studios.

Naturally, Wade's feelings are hurt, and Savage - both as actor and human being - clearly relishes making some wonderfully meta comic book deep-cuts.

These new scenes were reportedly shot mere weeks after the merger was completed this past summer, so they clearly played a broad, coy angle here in case plans somehow changed before Christmas. But thankfully, things worked out for the hilarious best.
