Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
4. It Looks & Sounds Fantastic
Like just about every Tarantino film, this looks terrific from start to finish, with his regular DP Robert Richardson making the most of a sun-soaked, neon-drenched Hollywood.
Despite the film's pacing issues, editor Fred Raskin does a typically remarkable job making scenes as dramatically punchy as possible, especially in the gonzo final stretch.
Also typically, Tarantino injects his film with a ton of period-specific music, from Bog Seger to Deep Purple, Neil Diamond and even Simon & Garfunkel.
It all helps contribute massively to the film's overall mood and tone, ensuring the self-conscious yet irresistible cool that Tarantino has built his brand on remains firmly in tact.
