One What If? Scenario For Each Marvel Film

What If Spider-Man Had Sided With Captain America?

While this What If? actually begins in a previous film, it would make for a really fascinating alternate timeline to explore. If Spider-Man had somehow been recruited by Captain America rather than Iron Man, the entire future of the MCU changes. Most notably, Spider-Man: Homecoming would be a drastically different story.

Rather than being all buddy buddy with Iron Man and having his suit provided for him, Spider-Man would be a true vigilante as he tries to stop the Vulture. Iron Man could even become a secondary antagonist that Spider-Man is constantly having to out manoeuvre as he enforces the Sokovia Act. Spider-Man would likely get little assistance from Captain America or the Secret Avengers, leaving him to fend for himself.

Spider-Man could still prove himself to Iron Man, just in a different way. Perhaps Iron Man captures Spider-Man near the end of the episode, but Spider-Man is able to convince Iron Man to let him go.

Iron Man would be left reconsidering the Sokovia Act and Spider-Man would be closer to his comic counterpart, unable to trust anyone. It would be sure to please some fans who aren't a huge fan of the relationship between Tony and Pete.
