One What If? Scenario For Each Marvel Film

What If Star-Lord Chose To Follow Ego?

At the climax of Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 it seems that Star-Lord is just moments away from joining his father in wiping out most of the universe. It's only because Ego casually mentions that he gave Star-Lord's mother cancer that Star-Lord is able to come his senses and turn against this father. But in a scenario where Ego kept his mouth shut, would he have been able to convince his son to join his side?

If so, would the other Guardians even be able to stop them? Not only would they be one man down, the only one in team who can actually fight Ego one to one, but it would mean the family would have to make the impossible decision of also killing Star-Lord.

This would definitely not be an easy choice for the Guardians to make and could suggest that they wouldn't be able to save the galaxy one more time. Furthermore, how would Yondu fit into this all? Could he be the only one to bring Star-Lord to his senses?

Either outcome would be upsetting to see, but the whole point of the show is take a look at what could of been.
