Oscar Nominations 2021: 7 Ups & 8 Downs
3. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Get Two Best Original Score Nominations
Composing duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross can now count themselves as three-time Best Original Score nominees after receiving dual nominations this year for their work on both David Fincher's Mank and Pixar's Soul.
This marks their first nominations since they won the award for Fincher's The Social Network a whole decade ago, and the two films they've been recognised for - a period biopic about Hollywood and an existential animated comedy - couldn't really be much different.
Better still, there's a strong chance the two actually end up winning the gong outright for Soul, given the general audience and critical love for both the movie and its sublime score.
