4. Snub: Decision To Leave (Best International Feature)

The Best International Feature category is always prone to a few strange snubs and surprise nominations, and while each of the five nominated films are well-reviewed in their own right, it was still a major shock to see Park Chan-wook's acclaimed thriller Decision to Leave miss the cut.

Given that the film won the Best Director award at Cannes, and was singled out as one of the best international films of the year by both the National Board of Review and Golden Globes, an Oscar nomination seemed basically inevitable.

Yet despite the movie's major visibility compared to basically every other nominee, it bafflingly failed to secure a nod, as will surely be remembered as one of the most egregious snubs in the category for years to come.
