Oscars 2013: 10 Predictions For Best Picture Nominees

2. Lincoln

Steven Spielberg's Lincoln was destined to be on this list the moment he first announced that he and Liam Neeson were going to set out to make a Lincoln biopic. The fact that Daniel Day Lewis stepped into the role shortly after Neeson left the belabored project only helped solidify the film's pedigree, and the critics have only further bolstered the claim. Throw in an ensemble cast of actors just as talented, and you've got a strong case for a good film. While it may not be a perfect film, it's a classic example of Spielberg's almost bullet-proof nomination record. The Academy has long been in love with films of historical merit, and Mr. Spielberg has become one of the leading purveyors of that medium. Besides, did you really think for a moment that it wouldn't be nominated?
