1. Snub: The Imposter For Best Documentary

And still, the most egregious snub of this year's Oscars is the absurd decision not to include Bart Layton's stunning investigative work The Imposter in this year's lineup. One of the best-reviewed documentaries of the year and likely the most audience-friendly, the film told a devastating, often funny tale, and was furnished with beautiful cinematography to boot. It seemed as much a lock as the category could ask for, but like the Best Foreign Film branch, the fussy qualification guidelines often mean that the best films get shut out at the early stage; who can forget how 2011's most-acclaimed documentary, Project Nim, was similarly not nominated last year? Surely this is a clear sign that the nomination guidelines need to be seriously re-assessed. How do you feel about this year's Oscar nominations? Let us know in the comments below.
