Oscars 2014: 10 Wins That Would Make This Year's Oscars Worth Watching

1. Leonardo DiCaprio Wins Best Actor

Imagine? Can you imagine if this is the year that Leonardo DiCaprio finally wins an Oscar? Whatever will happen to all those memes and gifs? It's become something of a running gag with DiCaprio getting nominated and not winning an Oscar; so much so that you'd think the man has twenty nominations to his name. He's got four, including his mesmerizing turn this year as Jordan Belfort. Beaten out by the likes of Tommy Lee Jones in 1993 and Jamie Foxx in 2004, never nominated for his performances in Revolutionary Road and Django Unchained; DiCaprio has tasted his share of snubs and robberies and then some. Still under 40 and topping overdue lists, the chant of "give this man an Oscar already!" is growing louder and louder each year. So wouldn't it be spectacular if he actually wins for the performance of his career? If you think that's a bold statement, I challenge you to show me a performance that showcases as much emotional and physical range from his rich filmography. After seeing 12 Years A Slave, I didn't think it would be possible to find a leading male performance more rousing than Chiwetel Ejiofor's. Then I saw Dallas Buyers Club and was floored by the resurgent Matthew McConaughey, thinking that Ejiofor has met his match. But then Wolf Of Wall Street was released, and DiCaprio simply defied all expectations, sunk his teeth into this role deeper than anyone in anything I've seen all year. His chances on March 2nd are slim, with McConaughey holding frontrunner status and Ejiofor getting a much needed boost from BAFTA, but DiCaprio has been tasting Oscar defeat since 1993. 2014 could finally be the year that pattern changes. If it does, it will be biggest highlight of the night. What categories and possible wins are you looking forward to at this year's Oscar ceremony? Let us know in the comments below!
