Oscars 2014: 17 Unfair Snubs The Academy Got Completely Wrong

16, 15 & 14. Rush - Best Supporting Actor (Daniel Bruhl), Best Sound Editing & Best Sound Mixing

Rush has had a rollercoaster of a time with awards, being released to strong acclaim and considerable awards buzz for Daniel Bruhl, as well as the technical side of things. Strange it is, then, that the film was entirely shut out, not being nominated for a single thing. Bruhl, who has been in consideration ever since the film premiered, was edged out by Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street), a performance which didn't get much guild love due to the time of its release, though has clearly made an impact since. Then there's the often confused Sound Editing and Sound Mixing fields, which seemed like a sure thing for a film as aurally focused as this. Creating the meaty engine sounds and then incorporating them into the mix with the dialogue and score was beautifully done, but instead, it seems that The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was likely the film to creep in and beat it out.
