Will Win: Frozen Should Win: Ernest & Celestine Surprise Win: The Wind Rises For a start, it's nice to see more than 3 nominees in this category. It's always the same story- the blockbuster, non-Disney movies are pitted against the big Disney movie of the year, and sometimes a stop-motion or foreign animation is chucked in for good measure. It seems another guarantee that Frozen, the big Disney movie, is going to win this year, as it's other CGI competitors were lacking in quality even if they scored bigger at the Box-Office. This is a shame as it's another Kids' movie where the lead female protagonist's arc is sidelined in favour of her male sidekicks' comedy antics, but that's the way the cookie crumbles... The charming Ernest & Celestine hasn't a hope in hell of winning in this category, but it would be nice and really is more a case of wishful thinking. But since he's finally retired, The Wind Rises could win, as a sort of makeshift 'Lifetime Acheivement' award for Hayao Miyazaki. And the film itself is pretty damn deserving, so this would actually be another rather pleasant surprise.
