Will Win: Gravity Should Win: Gravity Surprise Win: Her Steven Price should win this category, hands-down, and will win. Amongst all the great things about Gravity, the nerve-shredding score is one of the better things. Much like Predator, this is a film were the score is perfectly integrated and as organic as the environment. Price's work for Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish has been a standout in each of the films, and he's a proper rising star that gives depth & sophistication to the Sci-Fi movies he has scored thus far. He would be a very deserving winner. The relentless track as Ryan Stone hurtles through our atmosphere towards Earth is one of the best tracks of the year. Owen Pallett's work on Her might actually score here, but the unanimous praise for Price's score would mean this particular surprise win would be more 'upset' than pleasant. As decent as the music is, Her is more deserving for Original Screenplay than Original Score- even if Spike Jonze's movies always have excellent music in them.
